Naturopathic treatment is one of the natural remedial methods for high blood pressure. According to Naturopathy, the best way to reduce High B.P. is to remove the real cause.
According to this line of treatment, high pressure of blood is only a symptom that the poisonous matter has accumulated in the body and vitiating the blood, which is the real cause of high blood pressure.
Hence the ingestion of fresh fruits and vegetables instead of the traditional diet is helpful in ridding the body of the poisons which cause high blood pressure. A hypertension patient, if he is not too weak, should start the process of healing by living on fruits and vegetables for a week. The best course would be to take only fruits at five hourly intervals only thrice a day. Breakfast should be of oranges, bunch of guavas and dinner of tomatoes or apples. Fruits like oranges, apples, pears, mangoes, guava. pineapples, rose apples, raspberry, muskmelon are the best diet in such cases. But bananas and jackfruit should be avoided. After a week of "fruits only" diet, milk should be added, which should be of cow or goat and should be fresh. Don't over boil it but boil it only once. After two weeks, the patient can be permitted cereals in his food, in the form of porridge. A salt free diet is the best, but if you can't avoid salt totally then reduce its quantity as much as you can. Vegetables should be preferably raw. Such patient should consume raw cucumber, carrot, tomatoes, onions, radishes, cabbage as much as they can.
Have them in salad form after sprinkling a little of rock salt and fresh lime- juice. Besides this diet, the patient should take warm water enema to keep his bowels clean. Massage and light exercises are recommended. Massage should be done away from the heart and towards the limb and their extremities. Exercise should be of light variety.
Better would be to do some yogic exercises which have been given in the next chapter. Taking bath with lukewarm water and rubbing your body with your hands will also provide the desired relief. Early to bed is a must for such patients. They must have 6 to 8 hours sleep. Taking hot bath before retiring would induce sleep.
